The Adapta3 Back Support meets the needs of wheelchair users with complex postural presentations including anterior pelvic tilt, lordosis, posterior pelvic tilt, and kyphosis. The back support splits the rigid aluminium shell into three different sections that can be individually adjusted to achieve natural contours to position and support the pelvis and spine. The Adapta3 Back Support can provide the shapes needed to support the user by contouring the rigid aluminium shell, rather than the foam padding.
Spex Seating currently supply rigid back supports with contour-adjustable padding to support users with complex postural support needs. The new Adapta3 Back Supports are designed for users who require a back support surface with profile curvature adjustment to accommodate their trunk contour. These needs can be accommodated without excessive foam padding, making it easier to manage temperature and other related issues. The contoured surface remains supportive and holds its shape when the seating system is tilted or adjusted.

Positioning with Less Complexity
Provide effective positioning through the adaptive Profile Curvature System that contours to the shape of the individual. Match trunk profile with Adapta-Points and tighten to secure. Once tightened you can be confident the system will stay in place. Adjustments are made through each shell section offering flexibility as positioning needs change over time. Additional contouring can be achieved through positioning wedges provided with the back support as standard.
Less Foam, Less Heat, More Comfort
By contouring to the spine through the adjustable back support shell, foam bulk can be decreased which improves airflow. Soft yet supportive thin-line foam padding combined with breathable upholstery conforms to its section to provide superior comfort and postural support. Contact area distribution is maximised with one foam pad across all sections. These needs can be accommodated without excessive foam padding, making it easier to manage temperature and other related issues.
Anatomically Match Spinal Curves With Height Adjustment
The Adapta3 Back Support features a height adjustable top section. Enabling precise position of the back support curves to match the user’s trunk shape. The top Adapta-Point on all sizes can adjust up to 2 inches of additional height. Standard with all Adapta3 Back Supports.

Flip-Back Mechanism for Easier Transfers
The Adapta3 Back Support is available with a flip-back upper section (and head support if attached) which swings away to aid with transfers for kyphotic clients, giving easy access for slings and other aids. Scripted option for Adapta3 Back Supports.
Easily Provide Additional Positioning
Increased positioning can be achieved through use of the additional wedges included in the kit. Extra contouring can be achieved using the TSS Lit Kit accessory. Accessible cover design: easily insert positioning components through accessible zippers on the side of the padding.
Adjustable Even When the Client Is Sitting
The Profile Curvature System, positioned at the rear of the back support, allows for all adjustments to be made while the wheelchair user is seated and avoiding the need to transfer out of the chair.

Stylo Head Support for Adapta3
When scripting a headrest with the Adapta3 Back Support a Stylo with a reduced
length stem is required to ensure the stem and back support sections do not conflict.
Adapta3 Back Supports have an additional 2″ padding length to accommodate adjustments.
