Zygo Wheelchair Back Support – Mid Height Rigid Backrest for Posture & Comfort

The Zygo wheelchair back support is designed for full-time, self-propelling wheelchair users who want freedom without compromising posture, comfort, or performance. Featuring built-in laterals, it delivers reliable trunk support while allowing active users to move freely and confidently.

This lightweight, rigid wheelchair backrest is breathable, easy to adjust, and simple to install or remove—offering a practical and personalised seating solution for everyday use. Zygo enhances comfort, flexibility, and independence, helping users stay active for longer.

Unlike standard sling backs, which often lack proper support and pressure relief, Zygo promotes better spinal alignment and reduces discomfort during extended sitting. Its rigid design improves posture, stability, and overall function for active wheelchair users.

Developed by Spex Seating, Zygo is available in a range of sizes to suit most users without the need for complex customisation.

The mid-height shell with a shallow contour provides:

    Drop Mount Hardware

    The lightweight Drop Mount hardware self-locks into place and is simple to operate with a single combined clamp and

     mechanism unit. The release mechanism is simple to operate, and suitable for single-handed use, and those with limited hand function. The hardware gives plenty of adjustability and rigidity and can be used on a wide range of wheelchair frames.

    Developed using a composite material the Drop Mount Hardware is lightweight (600-800g) without compromising on durability.

    Available in four sizes, ensures the visual footprint of the hardware is paired perfectly to the back support size. The hardware fits 10” to 20” wide backs which are between 7” to 18” tall.

    Cover Extension

    Included as standard with all Zygo back supports. The cover extension hides the gap between back support and seat cushion.

     

    Depth Reduced Axial Swing-Away Lateral Support

    The shell design of the Active Lo & Mid back supports enable lateral supports to be fitted where required. The specially designed flat mounting Axial Lateral bracket can be mounted to the curved shell.
