Zygo Wheelchair Back Support – Lightweight Postural Support for Active Users
The Zygo wheelchair back support is designed for full-time, self-propelling wheelchair users who want freedom without compromising posture, comfort, or performance. With built-in laterals, it provides reliable trunk support while allowing active users to move freely and confidently.
This lightweight, rigid wheelchair backrest is breathable, easy to adjust, and simple to install or remove—making it a practical and personalised seating solution. Designed to enhance comfort and flexibility, Zygo helps users stay active and independent throughout the day.
Unlike standard sling backs, which often lack proper support and pressure relief, the Zygo back support promotes better posture and reduces discomfort during extended sitting. Its rigid design supports spinal alignment, helping improve overall function and seating stability.
Engineered by Spex Seating, Zygo is available in shapes and sizes suited to most active users, minimising the need for complex customisation.
The low-profile shell with a shallow contour offers:
- Pelvic and lumbar spine support
- Freedom of movement for users with moderate trunk strength
- Improved pressure relief and postural stability
- A padded top section to protect and support the spine

Features
The lightweight Drop Mount hardware self-locks into place and is simple to operate with a single combined clamp and mechanism unit. The release mechanism is simple to operate, and suitable for single-handed use, and those with limited hand function. The hardware gives plenty of adjustability and rigidity and can be used on a wide range of wheelchair frames.
Developed using a composite material the Drop Mount Hardware is lightweight (600-800g) without compromising on durability.
Available in four sizes, ensures the visual footprint of the hardware is paired perfectly to the back support size. The hardware fits 10” to 20” wide backs which are between 7” to 18” tall.

Depth Reduced Axial Swing-Away Lateral Support
The shell design of the Active Lo & Mid back supports enable lateral supports to be fitted where required. The specially designed flat mounting Axial Lateral bracket can be mounted to the curved shell.
